Thousands of Elementary and Secondary Students in the Fort Leonard Wood area are returning to the classroom today. In the Waynesville School District, every student in grades K-through-12 will receive a Chromebook free for their use during the academic year. This year, because of government funds, Waynesville-St. Robert-Fort Leonard Wood public school students will receive nearly all of their regular school supplies for free. Students will need to provide their own backpacks, but for the most part, parents will not need to purchase regular school supplies unless a special item is needed. Motorists are being reminded to observe extreme safety when driving through school zones before and after school and when schools are in sessions. Motorists should be especially alert where school buses are transporting students. Area school districts where classes are not beginning today are the Plato and Licking School Districts. Licking starts on Wednesday the 25th. The first day of classes at Plato has been delayed until September 7th, the day after Labor Day.
