Those wishing to get rid of electronics, appliances, and tires should make note of an upcoming collection event at Dixon High School. On Saturday, March 25, the Meramec Regional Planning Commission will be at Dixon High School to collect various residential items from 9 AM to 12 PM. The collection is free for the following items; anything operated on a battery or cord: appliances, general electronics, computer components, water heaters, power tools, garden and yard equipment, cell phones, hairdryers, and anything else that falls under that category. Items not accepted include CDs, DVDs, VHS and Data tapes, floppy disks, capacitors, and smoke detectors, among other items. Residents of Crawford, Dent, Gasconade, Maries, Phelps, Pulaski and Washington Counties are eligible to participate. There are disposal fees related to the collection of TV and computer monitors.
