The Waynesville Rural Fire Protection District is hosting two more public informational meetings to present and answer questions about Proposition Fire. Proposition Fire is a measure that, according to the district, is a tax increase that will prevent firefighter lay-offs, hire unfilled and unfunded firefighter positions, and increase firefighter pay and benefits to be competitive with the area. The measure will appear on the April 4th General Election ballot. A meeting to discuss Proposition Fire will be held tonight at 6:30 PM at Station 3 at 20965 Highway 28. If you are unable to attend that meeting, another one will be held on March 21st, again at 6:30 PM, at the Fire Training Center on 25785 Red Oak Road. In addition to these two events, a Family Safety Day will follow on the 25th of March. Shauna McCullough says it’s a day for education and preparation.

Family Safety Day runs from 11 AM to 3 PM on March 25th.
