The Pulaski County Sheriff’s Department has confirmed that the man who was struck by a train and killed Wednesday morning north of Dixon was the man who went missing last week from a Lebanon assisted living center. 49-year-old Mark T. Spence walked away from Lebanon Health Care North March 17th around 7 :30 p-m. Spence suffered from a traumatic brain injury and suffered from a diminished mental capacity. Area law enforcement had theorized that he most likely was making his way to the Union Village Ridge or St. Clair areas where family is located.
The Pulaski County Sheriff’s Department had suspected he was within Pulaski County late last week when people in the Laquey area had reported seeing a suspicious, shirtless subject there. By interviewing witnesses and video footage, deputies determined that subject was not Spence. The investigation remains open into the train-pedestrian accident Wednesday morning that resulted in Spence’s death.
