The number of new Covid cases reported in Pulaski County took a sharp jump upward during the holiday break. For the 2 weeks ending January 2nd, 388 new cases of Covid were recorded in the county, an average of 194 new cases per week. The previous one-week report ending December 18th counted 110 new cases. There were 32 Pulaski County individuals who died from Covid in 2021, 30 of them in the last six months of the year. Vaccination rates inched forward in the last two weeks–up to 68.5 percent for individuals who received their first Covid shot and up to 57.4 percent who received the second dose of the vaccine. And, for the first time, the Centers for Disease Control are supplying the number of people who have received their booster dose of the vaccine. In Pulaski County, 2812 individuals have received the booster, which is 9.3 percent of the population.
