The new blood donor center at Fort Leonard Wood took its first donations on Sunday
The new blood donor center at Fort Leonard Wood took its first donations on Sunday. The new donor center is in Building 759 on the post, where a grand opening ceremony will be held later this month. Carl Norman gives us more information.
Other than being in a different location, everything about donating blood at the new For Leonard Blood Donor Center will remain the same. Sundays through Tuesdays are collection days for unit-level blood drives, and 8 a-m to noon Wednesdays are reserved for appointments and walk-in donors. The Fort Leonard Wood Blood Donor Center collects blood for the Armed Services Blood Program, the official blood collection and transfusion agency for the Department of Defense. And in a related item: The General Leonard Wood Army Community Hospital is sponsoring an Armed Services Blood Program blood drive today from 8 a-m o 1:30 p-m in the MEDDAC Classroom. It is open to everyone 17 years old and older, military or civilian. Everyone who donates will receive a free ASBP t-shirt, some juice and cookies, and a heartfelt thank you.
