The Fort Leonard Wood Blood Donor Center needs blood donors during Holiday Block Leave

The Fort Leonard Wood Blood Donor Center needs blood donors during Holiday Block Leave because most of its donor pool is away for the holidays. The Military Healthcare System requires hundreds of units of blood each day and that remains constant throughout the holidays. During HBL, people have three opportunities to give blood to the Armed Services Blood Program: Visit the Fort Leonard Wood Blood Donor Center, Bldg. 759A, 8 a.m. – 4 p.m. today, Wednesday, December 27th, and January 3rd and 4th. Visit the General Leonard Wood Army Community Hospital Armed Services Blood Program blood drive, 8 a.m. – 2 p.m. tomorrow, primary care conference room on the first floor across from the internal medicine clinic. Visit the Main Exchange Armed Services Blood Program blood drive, 8 a.m. – 2:30 p.m. December 28th, mall area near the GLWACH pharmacy. Anyone who has access to Fort Leonard Wood can come to donate blood but must weigh at least 116 pounds, be at least 17 years old, and have been feeling well for at least three days before donating. It’s also good to be well-hydrated and eat something beforehand. Donors must bring a photo ID — military ID or driver’s license — to the donation site. It will be needed to check-in. All donors will receive a free ASBP t-shirt, some juice, cookies, and a heartfelt thank you. Those completing their third donation with the ASBP will receive a Certificate of Achievement worth five promotion points. Additionally, government civilian employees are eligible for up to four hours of excused absence to recuperate and travel to and from the donation site — with their supervisor’s approval.
