The filing deadline has passed in Missouri for individuals who want to seek county, state, and federal offices in the August primary. The primary ballot is set in Pulaski County with at least one candidate running for the county offices that will be up for election.
Democrat Colin Long will be unopposed for re-election as Associate Circuit Judge, Magistrate Division. Similarly, Republican Michael V. Headrick will be unopposed for re-election as Associate Circuit Judge, Probate Division. Two Republican candidates will be seeking their party’s nomination for Presiding Commissioner, the current Presiding Commissioner Gene Newkirk and challenger Joseph Krill. There will be five Republicans running for the Western District Commissioner–Andy C. Helms, Clinton J. Jarrett, Michael L. Hartley, Terry Richardson, and Joe Leuthen. Republican David Ernst will be unopposed for re-election as County Clerk. Democrat Rachelle Beasley will be unopposed for re-election as Clerk of the Circuit Court and Recorder of Deeds. There will be two Republican candidates running for the office of County Treasurer–Mack E. Wilkerson and Lorna West. The current County Treasurer Sue Rapone is not running for re-election. Two candidates will be on the August ballot for Prosecuting Attorney. The current prosecutor, Kevin Hillman, will be on the Republican ballot and former Democrat prosecutor, Wayne Gifford, will be on the Democrat ballot. Since the primary election selects the top candidate of both parties for the office, the real election for Prosecuting Attorney will come during the general election this November. Republican Terri L. Mitchell will be unopposed for re-election as Pulaski County Collector of Revenue.
The primary election ballots will see several people running for Democrat and Republican Committeeman and Committeewoman of the various townships.
In Cullen Township, voters will have the choice of Mark C. Prugh or Wayne Gifford for Democrat committeeman. Yvonne Reeves Chong is unopposed for Democrat committeewoman. David Ernst and Loretta Rouse are unopposed for election as Republican committeeman and committeewoman. No Democrat filed for the posts in Liberty Township. Republicans David Dicke and Terri L. Mitchell are unopposed to fill the committee positions in Liberty Township. No candidate filed for committee positions in Piney Township.
In Tavern Township, Democrat Kyle Bomar filed as committeeman, but no one filed for Democrat committeewoman. Republicans Melissa E. Whittle and Daniel Whittle filed for Republican committeewoman and committeeman. Zachary K. Shepherd filed for Republican committeeman from Union Township. No other candidates filed for the other committee posts to be filled in Union township. Voters will be asked whether they want a Democrat or Republican ballot to vote when they go to the polls in August.
