The Missouri Department of Conservation encourages young hunters to get outdoors and discover nature this weekend for the early portion of the youth firearms deer season. From October 31st through November 1st, shooting hours run one-half hour before sunrise to one-half hour after sunset. Youth firearms deer season is for those who are between 6 and 15 years old. Conservation Agent Jared Milligan says the youth will need a permit….

There are a few ways to get a permit….

Adults 18 and older who have their hunter certification must accompany the youth hunter, but don’t have to have a permit. Youth may only harvest one deer during the early youth portion of the season. The late youth portion of firearms deer season runs November 27th through the 29th. You can find additional information online at mdc.mo.gov.
