The construction of a FEMA shelter at Freedom Elementary is progressing

The construction of a FEMA shelter at Freedom Elementary is coming along. The FEMA shelter will serve as a gym for students, and for community groups to use in the evenings when not in use by the school district. Hilary Bales, Waynesville R-VI superintendent, says the remaining funds come from a tax levy increase passed a few years ago.

Bales says the Waynesville R-VI school district has a per-pupil expenditure below the state’s average.

Bales and another within the school district will travel next week to Washington D.C. to meet with the Missouri delegation and advocate for the support for Impact Aid funding for the district.
