The American Red Cross is urging blood donors of all types, or those who have never given blood, to book an appointment

The American Red Cross is urging blood donors of all types, or those who have never given blood, to book an appointment to help keep the blood supply from dropping ahead of the holidays. Although all blood types are needed, platelet donors and those with type O blood are especially desired, as they are blood products that are critical to keeping hospitals ready to help patients depending on transfusions in the weeks ahead. Several blood donation opportunities will be coming soon to the area. Fort Leonard Wood will host an event on November 4th from 11 AM until 3:30 PM at Fort Wood Army Community Hospital. Camdenton will do the same on November 10th from 11 AM until 4 PM at Old Kinderhook at 54 Club Place. Finally, Lake Ozark will hold two events, both on November 7th. The first is from 9 AM until 1 PM at the Lake Area Chamber of Commerce, while the second is from 12 PM until 4 PM at Mt. Carmel Baptist Church. Those who give from November 1st until November 22nd will receive a $10 e-gift card by email to a merchant of choice. You can book your appointment by using the Red Cross Blood Donor App, visiting RedCrossBlood.org, or by calling 1-800-733-2767.
