Texas County Fatal

A 47-year old Texas County man is dead following a single-vehicle accident at 1:25 Monday afternoon. The Missouri Highway Patrol reports that a car driven by 25-year old Thomas A. Franklin of Houston failed to negotiate a curve, traveled off of Missouri Highway 17, 8 miles north of Summersville, struck a fence, and overturned multiple times ejecting the three occupants of the car. Jason M. McGrath of Houston was pronounced dead at the scene by Texas County Coroner Marie Lasater. Franklin suffered serious injuries and was taken to Cox Hospital in Springfield. Another occupant of the car, 21-year old Daniel E. Ketchum of Houston, suffered moderate injuries and was taken to Texas County Memorial Hospital in Houston. None of the occupants were wearing a seatbelt.
