At least 4 states have reported that deer have tested positive for the coronavirus, but so far none have been tested in Missouri. That’s about to change according to Conservation Health Program Supervisor Jasmine Batten….
Batten said studies are being conducted to find out if the virus is making deer sick..
Batten said the bigger concern for the deer population is chronic wasting disease (CWD), which is contagious and fatal to deer. The Department of Conservation is continuing CWD sampling on deer that have been harvested in management zones. Before hunting in Missouri, contact the Missouri Department of Conservation on regulations related to CWD testing and carcass movement restriction.
