Tampow Request Denied
Mark Tampow was in Laclede County Circuit Court this week, where Judge Matthew Hamner ruled on a motion for Tampow’s attorney, Matthew Palmer with the Missouri Public Defenders office, to withdraw from the case. The court approved that motion. Tampow is scheduled to go to trial in August for the murder of his girlfriend in August of last year. Hamner has set aside five days for the trial beginning on August 22nd of this year. Tampow allegedly shot 53-year-old Brenda Rogers of Lebanon. Police were called to a home in the 500 block of Polk Street on August 13th for reports of shots being fired in the home. When they arrived, they found Rogers deceased inside the house. A pre-trial conference is set for June 6th. Tampow had argued that he couldn’t afford an attorney and would like the court to provide a public defender. The court found that Tampow does have adequate resources to hire private counsel and denied his request for a public defender.
Tampow is currently free on a one hundred thousand dollar bond.
