Suspected Drug Trafficker arrested in Lebanon

An investigation into a suspicious vehicle, that had a bullet hole in the door, resulted in a man being arrested in Lebanon Monday night. According to the responding officer, the car was sitting in the 400 block of East Elm, and the driver was slouched forward on the steering wheel, in what appeared to be an impaired state. The driver, identified as 26-year-old Tommy Smith from Arizona, told the officer that he was shot at in Springfield during an attempted carjacking. When the officer asked for consent to search Smith’s car, he said no, so a K-9 Unit was brought in, and the dog alerted on the vehicle. Officers then searched the vehicle and found close to 400 grams of methamphetamine, several pills, marijuana, and a handgun that had been reported stolen by someone in Arkansas. Smith was arrested and is charged with felony drug trafficking and felony stealing. His bond was set at $100-thousand-dollars cash or surety.
