Suspect in Custody for theft of pickup in Laclede Co
The Laclede County Sheriff’s Office recently investigated the theft or attempted theft of vehicles in the county. On March 19th, Deputies responded to the 31-thousand block of Twilight Drive, when a man noticed that the passenger side door of his vehicle was partially open. the man said the steering column had been take apart and the ignition tumbler was damaged. The report states that the vehicle owner was not able to insert the key into the ignition due to the damage. A couple miles to the west, a resident in the 30-thousand block of Jeffries Road, reported that they were watching tv when they heard their truck start and take off. The husband of the residence ran out the door and followed the stolen truck, but lost sight of the vehicle on Garrett Road. Law Enforcement reported they found the stolen truck in the ditch line of Garrett Road, still running with no one inside.
On March 23rd another truck theft was reported. The vehicle owner said the pickup was parked across from his father’s residence, on Juniper Road, with the keys under the floor mat. The suspects attempted to trade the stolen truck at a local car dealership, but didn’t have the title, so they were denied. The truck was also spotted at Walmart in Lebanon, and eventually recovered by Lebanon Police on New Buffalo Road. The man driving the stolen truck was taken into custody.
