Surplus auction in Lebanon brings in over $131-thousand
Government agencies on a regular basis have property that they don’t have a need for or have replaced, so it goes into a surplus list. Laclede County has a process where they seek bids for larger surplus property. The Lebanon R-3 School District, after it is approved by the board to be “surplus”, anything of any value goes to Knight Auction. If it has no value to speak of, it is disposed of. The City of Lebanon places most of their usable surplus property with an online Auction site called Purple Wave. On Monday night, Councilman Dan Mizell shared a concern from a local business owner who also has an auction service.
According to the City of Lebanon, in the last 12 months, the sale of surplus property has resulted in the recovery of $131,230.00 through Purple Wave. There is no fee for the City to use Purplewave for the sale of surplus property.
