Sunrise Beach Woman Killed In Saturday Boat Crash At Lake of the Ozarks

A woman from Sunrise Beach was killed, and three others were injured, in a boat crash on Saturday at Lake of the Ozarks. Missouri Highway Patrol Marine Division reports indicate the crash occurred at the 24-mile-mark of the main channel around 7:45 Saturday night. The report states the vessel was operating too close to a dock, struck a large wake, and then struck the breakwater. 44-year-old Nicolette L. McKenna was pronounced dead at the scene by the Camden County Medical Examiner. The operator of the boat, 60-year-old Bobby G. Childers of Sunrise Beach, was moderately injured and taken by ambulance to Lake Regional Medical Center for treatment. 49-year-old Curtis J. Wilkie and 21-year-old Connor J. Wilkie, both of Kansas City, received minor injuries and were transported by ambulance to Lake Regional for treatment. Childers was arrested for Boating While Intoxicated-Causing The Death Of Another, and Careless and Imprudent Operation. He was released for medical attention.
