Winter Heat Bills Funding Group

Winter is here, and that means some folks may have trouble paying their utility bill. With it costing so much money now to run a heater, certain funds can help. LIHEAP funds can help households stay safe and warm in the winter by providing assistance with home heating bills, preventing energy shutoffs, reconnecting services, making homes more energy efficient, and repairing or replacing heating equipment. The LIHEAP Heating Season Toolkit provides outreach materials to help partners, stakeholders, and grant recipients reach eligible households. Donna Owens with the Missouri Ozarks Community Action team says that folks can apply for LIHEAP assistance.

Owens says the funds go right to the utility company.

LIHEAP is income-based and you can’t qualify if you are over the income threshold, and this goes for the entire household.

You can apply past June 2nd as there is no deadline date.
