Successful Youth Turkey Hunt
The preliminary numbers are in for the Spring Youth Turkey Hunting which took place over the weekend. The Missouri Department of Conservation reports that youth harvested a total of 3730 turkey on April 6th and 7th. Laclede County youth checked in 60 birds, Camden County youth checked in 50, Pulaski County checked 58 and Dallas County Youth checked in 35. Laclede County Conservation Agent Jarad Milligan tells Regional Radio News hunting helps stabilize the turkey population but it also can put food on the table.
Top harvest counties for the youth portion of turkey hunting were Gasconade with 92 birds harvested, Osage with 90, and Franklin with 89. The regular Spring Turkey Hunting Season
is April 15th through May 5th.
