Fort Leonard Wood Family and Morale, Welfare, and Recreation is celebrating ten years of its Strong B.A.N.D.S campaigns with five activities designed to get participants moving during the month of May.
This year’s theme, “Commit–Stay Fit,” encourages everyone to get involved to improve their overall health and well-being.
The first event of the month takes place from 9 to 10 o’ clock this morning outside Specker Gym. It’s the 100-Second Challenge. During 100-seconds, participants are invited to test their grip strength by hanging from a special pull-up bar. This event is challenging due to the fact that the bar is free-spinning when weight is applied. The contest is free and open to authorized personnel, ages 16 and older, All participants will receive Strong B. A. N. D. S bracelets, while winners who can last the 100 seconds will receive a T-shirt.
This Monday will begin the 10-mile Swim Challenge at the Davidson Fitness Center indoor pool.
