Statewide prescription drug monitoring bill dies this session
The proposed creation of a statewide prescription drug monitoring system is dead this legislative session. Some members of the Missouri Senate Conservative Caucus who oppose such a database ate up time on the final day of the Legislature’s regular session to block a final vote. Senator Bill Eigel and Senate President Dave Schatz, a fellow Republican, do not see eye to eye on the measure designed to crack down on suspected misuse of addictive painkillers.
The measure was eventually withdrawn from the debate. The legislative session ended at 6 pm Friday.
