Missouri has about seven-thousand state government job openings and Governor Mike Parson is asking for a historic pay increase to help fill positions. Parson wants the Legislature to pass an 8.7-percent increase for all of Missouri’s state workers and a two-dollar-per-hour bump in pay for group care employees working hard-to-fill shifts. Precythe says the department is struggling to fill jobs in St. Joseph, Bowling Green and Fulton. She says prisons in Licking, Fordland and Chillicothe are better staffed.
