St. Robert will have a barbeque cookoff contest this weekend in the Community Center, sponsored by a Kansas City Barbeque Association

(St. Robert)–The City of St. Robert will have a barbeque cookoff contest this weekend in the Community Center. Sponsored by a Kansas City Barbeque Association, it will be scaled down quite a bit from the much larger planned event that was supposed to be held earlier this year. St. Robert Mayor George Lauritson says the cooks who have entered this prestigious competition will be barbequing over a two-day period.
Because of Covid-19 concerns, the barbequed meat will be destroyed after the judging on Saturday. However, Pulaski County Presiding Commissioner Gene Newkirk and others will be preparing barbeque food that the public can buy and enjoy on Saturday. Also on Saturday at 9 o’clock, the City of St. Robert will have a free bake-off contest for children and adults. There also will be a barbeque side dish competition on Saturday as well. People who are interested in entering should bring in their favorite barbeque side dish to feed 20 people. Turn-in time will be 10 a-m with judging to begin at 10:30.
