Today is St. Patrick’s Day, the day that St. Patrick as legend has it, drove out all the snakes in Ireland. St. Patrick’s Day events have been taking place every day this week on the campus of Missouri University of Science and Technology in Rolla. The celebration’s nine Honorary Knights will be honored during a coronation ceremony this evening at 9 o’clock at Leach Theatre in Castleman Hall, located at 403 W. 10th St. in Rolla. The 115th annual St. Pats Parade will be taking place tomorrow morning at 11 o’clock, with part of the parade route on Pine Street painted green in Downtown Rolla. Then from one to three o’clock Saturday afternoon, a free St. Pats concert will be held, featuring The Schwag, at the Rolla Band Shell at the corner of 9th and Oak Streets. The Schwag band, a band of musicians dedicated to carrying on the music of the legendary Grateful Dead band, has been playing this annual event for over 20 years. The St. Pat’s Board will be having an open-air concert Saturday evening at 6:30 on the lawn at the Havener Center. The performing bands will include Coin, Crash Adams, and Shiloh. Tickets are required and are free for S-and-T students, faculty, and staff. Tickets for non-S-and-T guests are $20, payable at the entrance site to the concert.
