Lawmakers in Missouri will try again this year to legalize sports betting. It’s actually the Missouri Senate’s top priority, as the bill to do so is designated as Senate Bill 1. The bill would also legalize video lottery in Missouri. The sponsor, Republican Denny Hoskins of Warrensburg, says video lottery would actually be WAY more lucrative than sports betting:
Hoskins says sports betting, by comparison, would only generate about 2 to 3 million dollars a year for the state. But he’s also sponsoring a stand-alone bill as a backup that would also legalize sports betting. There are also two bills in the Missouri House to legalize betting on sporting events.
