Spending Marijuana Tax Dollars

The Laclede County Commission answered questions asked by a citizen who was inquiring about how sales tax dollars collected through recreational marijuana sales, will be spent. A particular question asked was if the money would be used on county roads. Presiding Commissioner Randy Angst said that is unknown…..

While the amount of money the county will receive is unknown, Commissioners believe that a 3 percent county sales tax will be collected from every business that sells recreational marijuana within the boundaries of Laclede County, unless there is a court challenge. The county won’t begin to see that money for several months.
