Spelling Bee Begins

More than 200 spellers from across the nation are competing in the national spelling bee, including eight Missouri kids. The contest begins virtually today, with the semifinals on June 27 and the in-person finals on July 8 at Walt Disney World. Columbia middle school student, Jiya  Shetty, spelled the word joskin correctly to qualify for nationals…

Shetty qualified for the national bee last year, but the contest was cancelled because of the pandemic. Other Missouri spellers competing are from Trenton, Rolla, Poplar Bluff, Peculiar, Park Hill, Independence, and St. Louis.
