The recent beating down of ranked teams continued Wednesday night for the rebels of ole Miss as they took down the 10th ranked mizzou tigers, 80=59….
they used a 17-2 run that spanned the final two minutes of the first half and the opening three minutes of the second half to build an insurmountable 51-37 lead. The Rebels led by as many as 22 points midway in the second half as Missouri never seriously threatened again.

Jarkel Joiner scored 21 points, Devontae Shuler and Luis Rodriguez added 15 points apiece for the Rebels (11-8, 6-6 Southeastern), extended their winning streak to three games that includes wins over No. 16 Tennessee and the No. 10 Tigers.
The surge left the Rebels in the middle of a logjam of the SEC standings, with eight teams within three games of each other.

As they head toward the start of spring training, the Cardinals planned to fortify their roster with some depth moves, for the infield and, as they did Wednesday morning, for the bullpen.

They went for height and power in a trade with the Phillies.

The Cardinals acquired Johan Quezada, a 6-foot-9 righthander, from Philadelphia in exchange for cash considerations. Quezada, 26, joins the Cardinals’ 40-man roster, and brings its total to 38.

The righthander made the leap from High-A Fort Myers in 2019 to the majors with the Miami Marlins in late 2020, and in his three appearances for Miami averaged 97.5 mph on his fastball.

The Boston Red Sox, New York Mets, and Kansas City Royals have agreed on a three-team trade involving outfielder Andrew Benintendi. (ben-ah-tend-ee)… Benintendi will head to the Royals, with prospect Khalil Lee going to the Mets, and Franchy Cordero, Josh Winchowski, and three players to be named later joining the Red Sox.

Benintendi, 26, was limited to 14 games last season. In those contests, he batted .103 with six more strikeouts than walks in 52 plate appearances. Benintendi was then shut down with a strained rib cage. He entered the season having hit .277 for his career with averages of 18 home runs and 18 stolen bases per 162 games. Benintendi, who will make $6.6 million this season, has two years of team control remaining.
The Royals figure to start Benintendi in left field most days. Elsewhere in their outfield, Kansas City is likely to start Whit Merrifield everyday and use some combination of Edward Olivares and Michael A. Taylor in the other spot.
