Shooting in Texas County leads to arrest
A call about a shooting to the Texas County Sheriff’s Office on Friday night has resulted in felony charges against a Mountain Grove man. The call came from Texas County Memorial after a 19 year old was admitted to the emergency room with a gunshot wound. During the investigation, the victim reported that he had been in an argument with a family member and during that argument, the suspect hit the 19-year-old with a pistol and then fired a shot which struck him in the arm and torso. Deputies then went to a residence on Gravel Point Road in the Dunn Area, where they spoke with 59-year-old Wayne Beck, who claimed he didn’t intend to shoot the victim, only to scare him. Beck is charged with domestic assault in the first degree, armed criminal action, and unlawful use of a weapon. His bond is set at $25-thousand-dollars. The 19-year-old was transferred to another hospital in serious condition.
