Laclede County Sheriff, David Millsap along with several county sheriffs were in Jefferson City recently to talk to legislators about The Missouri Supreme Court Ruling 2021 allowing non-violent offenders to get out of jail without posting bond. Millsap says that ruling is a growing concern with county sheriffs all over the state. Millsap breaks down the numbers:

Millsap says, on top of the calls to his department from citizens they now have to track down individuals who skip their court appearances. He is hoping the Missouri house will take a look at Ruling 2021 and to make changes to that ruling:

Millsap says, this issue should be handled on the local level, not the Missouri Supreme Court or the General Assembly by allowing local judges to set bonds on individuals.
