Deer hunting is a popular sport in the Missouri Ozarks, and hunters are invited to share their bounty through Missouri’s Share the Harvest program. The Share the Harvest Program allows deer hunters to donate the venison to food pantries in the community, who distribute the meat to the less fortunate. Executive Director of the Conservation Federation, Tyler Schwartze
says Share the Harvest has been going on for 30 years….

Hunters have the option to donate part or all of the deer they harvest.

Processing fees are covered entirely or in part by numerous local sponsors. If you wish to donate a deer that was harvested in a county within the CWD Management Zone, the deer must be tested for CWD, and it can only be donated to an approved processor that is participating in the Share the Harvest CWD-Testing Program. To find out approved processor locations go to the mdc.mo.gov website.
