Sex offender arrested for armed criminal action in Texas County

A Bucyrus man was arrested in Texas County after holding law enforcement at bay for around 4 hours on Wednesday. According to Sheriff Scott Lindsey, deputies went to a residence on Venable Drive for a well being check on concerns about possible domestic violence. During the investigation it was determined that Carlos Garcia, a convicted sex offender was in the home. It’s reported that Garcia had a warrant for his arrest. When they arrived deputies made contact with a female resident who was outside. Garcia then came outside with 2 children, and when confronted by deputies he ran back into the house and was reportedly holding a rifle, and refused to come out. After communicating with Garcia for about 4 hours, deputies force their way into the home and took him into custody. In addition to the original felony warrant, Garcia is charged with failure to register as a sex offender, resisting arrest, unlawful possession of a firearm and armed criminal action. He remains in the Texas County Jail with a bond of $50-thousand cash only.
