The Missouri Senate debated a controversial K-12 education package Wednesday but did not vote on the bill. The plan, which the Senate debated on the first day of Black History Month, would restrict race education. Senator Steven Roberts, a St. Louis Democrat, said the bill would “whitewash” American history.

State Senator Andrew Koenig is the bill sponsor.

Under the plan, a district who does not follow the rules could have up to 50-percent of its state aid withheld.
