The polls are open across the state of Missouri, and there is a difference between today’s election versus what’s coming up in April, August and November. Missouri Secretary of State and chief election authority Jay Ashcroft explains…

At the polls, voters will choose which party ballot they want to mark, but some people feel that their vote just doesn’t matter today because it all comes down to the national parties, who will do what they want regardless of the popular vote….

But Ashcroft said he has been trying to get that changed….

Ashcroft said the issue was before lawmakers last year, but to avoid confusion, he isn’t pushing it this year. The polls for today’s Presidential Preference Primary will remain open until 7pm.
