Search Resumes Today for Missing Canoeist

Search efforts will resume today for a missing man last seen Sunday, canoeing on the Niangua River near Eldridge. The Missouri Highway Patrol says that  Tim Stapleton’s canoe is reported to have hit some debris on the river and overturned. An unnamed woman who was with Stapleton grabbed a tree branch and survived as Stapleton drifted downstream. Neither occupant of the canoe was wearing a lifejacket.
