Search Continues For Camden County Carjacker

Authorities in Camden County are continuing their search for a suspect in a carjacking and assault in the Richland area of Camden County that occurred last Thursday.

The victim claimed she was giving a ride to a man in need. The man has been identified as 43-year-old Stephen G Wachholtz of the Eugene, Sunrise Beach, Richland, and Dixon area. Wachholtz called the victim for a ride after being asked to leave the residence where he was staying in Eugene. The victim picked him up and asked for a ride to Dixon. While en route, her vehicle began having mechanical problems, and she told Wachholtz she was going to drive to her home. At that point, Wachholtz attacked the victim by grabbing the steering wheel and attempting to cause the vehicle to crash.

He then slammed her head into the steering wheel. When the victim attempted to flee the vehicle with the keys, Wachholtz grabbed her by the arm, bit her hand, and took the keys from her. He then pushed her out of the vehicle and drove off.

The victim described the vehicle as a gold 2000 Pontiac Grand Prix four-door sedan with a damaged driver’s side taillight assembly. The Pontiac has a Missouri license plate of EG2K0E.

Wachholtz was scheduled to appear last Thursday in Camden County Circuit Court on a charge of Possession Of a Controlled Substance and Unlawful Possession Of Drug Paraphernalia.
