A new national school safety organization will launch soon in Missouri with the longtime Columbine school safety leader on board. John McDonald will be the Chief Operating Officer of the Council for School Safety Leadership. He led the security team at Jefferson County Schools in Colorado, including Columbine High School, where two shooters opened fire in 1999 – killing 12 students and one teacher. McDonald, who is known nationally for his work at Columbine, says the new national organization will include a critical incident response team that can be mobilized in Missouri and beyond…

The new organization, which will be part of the Missouri School Boards’ Association, will also include bringing national experts together to build prevention, response and recovery programs.
