Ruby Rice (Lebanon)
Ruby J. Rice was born October 1, 1935 in Solo, Missouri to Russell Johnson and Mary A. Randall Johnson. She passed away Friday, September 20, 2024, in Lebanon South Nursing and Rehab in Lebanon, Missouri. She was eighty-eight years, eleven months and nineteen days of age.
Ruby grew up in Solo and attended Cabool High School. On June 1, 1953, she was united in marriage to Arthur P. Rice and together they celebrated over seventy-one years of love and memories.
Following her marriage to Arthur, they moved to the Los Angeles, California area where Ruby was employed by various department stores. In 1969, they returned to Missouri to the Mountain Grove area.
Ruby is preceded in death by her parents; her brothers, Marvin Johnson, Jim Johnson, Doc Johnson, and Gene Johnson; and her sisters, Dorothy Cape, Nadine Rust, Velma Adams and Francis Miller.
She is survived by her three children, Tom Rice and his wife Carrie of Eureka, Missouri, Beverly Bush of Valrico, Florida and Susie Hembree of Buffalo, Missouri; six grandchildren, Tiffany, Heather, Christy, Jodi, Natasha and Joshua; eight great-grandchildren, John, Nathan, Cody, Blake, Chloe, Mylania, Rhianya and Grant; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Ruby was a follower of the Baptist faith and loved her Lord and Savior.
She enjoyed cooking, gardening and sewing. She also liked going to auctions and yard sales, finding many treasures along the way.
Most of all, Ruby loved her family. She looked forward to attending family reunions and spending precious time with her family. She dearly loved her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and enjoyed being with them and watching them grow up.
Ruby was known for her kindness and integrity. She was hard working and always supportive of her family and loved ones and was present in their lives in a meaningful way. We celebrate her life and accomplishments and know that her family and friends will treasure the wonderful memories she made for them.
