Rolla Man Drowns

A man from Rolla drowned on Saturday in a lake in Phelps County. Highway Patrol reports indicate 25-year-old Sumit Garg entered Little Prarie Lake by an unknown means around 5 p.m. on Saturday, became submerged, and did not resurface. The victim was located about 15 feet from the lake’s bank at 9 p.m. on Saturday. Garg was pronounced dead at the scene at 9 p.m. on Saturday by Phelps County Coroner Ernie Coverdell. This was the first drowning of the year for Troop I.
