Researchers Look At Ways To Improve Prison

A team of researchers at the University of Missouri-Columbia is looking at ways to improve conditions for Missouri’s prison inmates. Kelli Canada, a social work professor at Mizzou, leads the research team. She says one aspect of the 5-year project will focus on normalcy behind bars:

The study will also examine staff training and focus on teaching inmates certain skills, such as budgeting money and cooking meals for visiting family members. Four Missouri prisons are taking part – Moberly Correctional Center, Vandalia Correctional Center, South Central Correctional Center, and Farmington Correctional Center.
