After a one-year hiatus due to Covid-19, the annual Remember the Removal Bike Ride is taking place over a Trail of Tears route during the forced removal of Cherokee Indians in the 1830s. The group started at New Echota, Georgia, on May 31st and will end their ride on June 18th in Tahlequah, Oklahoma. The young cyclists are expected to arrive in Waynesville by late afternoon today and stay in local accommodations overnight before continuing their westward journey tomorrow morning.
