Law enforcement officers were highly opposed to a house bill in a committee hearing that would prohibit the use of automated traffic enforcement systems. . Missouri Law enforcement officers expressed the need for red-light traffic cameras, as they serve multiple uses and are a resource for different crimes. A lobbyist representing Lt Michael McAteer of the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department said that these cameras are for more than just traffic or traffic users.

 

The bill’s sponsor, Republican Representative Tony Lovasco, of OFallon said the bill would restrict the amount of information that the local government retains on vehicles.
