Rash of traffic accidents due to the heavy rain

Road pavements were wet most of the day Tuesday in our part of the state, prompting a series of traffic accidents. Tuesday afternoon at 2:17, a one-vehicle accident took place at Mile Marker 173.8 on Interstate 44 in Phelps County. The highway patrol says 52-year-old Sheri L. Decekr-Skog of St. Robert lost control of her 2016 Nissan Rogue on the wet-covered roadway. It traveled off the roadway and struck a wall. She escaped the accident with only minor injuries and was taken by ambulance to Phelps Health in Rolla. At 4:45 Tuesday afternoon on Highway 32, 9 miles east of Lebanon, a 2005 Lincoln Towncar, driven by 21-year-old Bradley D. Whiting of Lebanon, hydroplaned out of control and left the roadway. A passenger, 20-year-old Callasandra J. Pickler, was taken to Mercy Hospital in Lebanon with minor injuries. At 5:42 Tuesday afternoon on Highway 5 and Highway E in Laclede County, the highway patrol says a 2016 Jeep Patriot, driven by 39-year-old Kyle A. Crippen of Lebanon, made a left turn in front of a 1994 Dodge Ram, driven by 32-year-old Joshua M. Crisp of Lebanon. Injured in the crash were Crippen, who received moderate injuries, and a 4-year-old male passenger, whose injuries were minor. Crippen reportedly refused treatment. The juvenile was taken to Mercy Hospital in Lebanon for treatment.
