Pulaski County’s Salute To Service Is the Latest Event To Show Soldiers A Good Time Over The Holidays

It will be a lonely holiday season for Army trainees who, for one reason or another, have not left Fort Leonard Wood for the annual Holiday Block Leave.
In Pulaski County, the LPC Alumni Foundation is partnering with the Waynesville- St. Robert Chamber of Commerce, and is asking for community volunteers to help out at the Salute to the Season Block Party. Gracie Hutchinson is with the Waynesville-St. Robert Chamber of Commerce and says the party is a salute to all the soldiers who could not go back home for the holidays.

The chamber is also looking for the community to help provide financial support for the event, and Hutchinson says the donations will be handed to the soldiers.

Although this event is after Christmas on December 28th at the Storie Book Moments, it will still be a lot of fun for the soldiers who attend.

For more information on the event or if you want to volunteer you can reach out to the Waynesville-St. Robert Chamber of Commerce. Call 573-336-5121.

In Lebanon, the Friends of the Fort is hosting a group of left-behind soldiers today for a full day of activities with food.

In Rolla, Phelps for the Fort powered by the Rolla Chamber is rallying support to create a memorable hometown Christmas this Thursday for 200 soldiers from Fort Leonard Wood who won’t be able to be home for the holidays. The event will be held in Lion’s Club Park in Rolla starting at 11 o’ clock Thursday morning.
