Pulaski County Woman Taken Into Custody after Early Morning Incident

A Waynesville area woman has been taken into custody by the Pulaski County Sheriff’s Department after a traffic incident Thursday morning. County deputies were dispatched to the 20-thousand block of Hartford Road at 5:48 a. m. for a wellbeing check of an unconscious woman behind the wheel of a vehicle that was reported to be partially blocking the roadway.
Upon arrival, the deputies attempted to gain entry into the vehicle to provide first aid, but the woman awoke and fled the scene in the vehicle. After a brief pursuit and striking two deputies and deputy vehicles, the subject was taken into custody. She has been identified as Lea Ann Barba and was wanted by the Pulaski County Sheriff’s Department for multiple felony warrants, as well as other agency warrants. Barba remains in the custody of the Pulaski County Sheriff’s Department in Waynesville. Further charges are expected to be filed at a later date.
