(Waynesville)–The Pulaski County Sheriff’s Department reports that it has received multiple calls about a possible scam in the area. These callers say they have been contacted by phone by a man who identifies himself as James from Publisher’s Clearinghouse. He says they have won a large amount of money and that they should purchase a gift card for a one-time fee so they can access their winnings. He is very persistent during the phone call. The sheriff’s department says this is likely a scam and reminds the public that no one should release any personal information, account information, or purchase gift cards for the purpose of getting access to their alleged winnings.
