Pulaski County Salvation Army Unit is distributing free food
The Pulaski County Salvation Army Unit distributed free food Tuesday to 600 needy families for their Christmas meals this year. The bags of free food are being handed out by 30 Salvation Army volunteers at the ARK Community and Sports Center in Waynesville to the pre-registered families. Heading the volunteers is Lisa Schwandt of Waynesville, assisted by Heather Frabel of the Good Samaritan Resource Center, and Debbie Fraskie, a Salvation Army caseworker from the Crocker Presbyterian Food Pantry. Money for the food handout comes from the annual Tree of Lights campaign, which is now underway through Friday. This year’s fundraising goal is $100,000. People in the community are being reminded to be generous when donating money to the Salvation Army through the red kettles set up around the county.
