Pulaski County August Ballot Issues

Missouri voters usually don’t have to deal with an August election in non-primary or presidential years like here in 2023. But for some voters in the state, there are several election issues to decide. Here in Pulaski County, there will be a special August election on Tuesday, August 8th, to vote on four ballot issues, and only voters in the Richland, Laquey, Waynesville, and St. Robert will be going to the polls that day. Richland School District voters will get to decide the fate of Proposition Kids to increase the district’s operating tax levy by 90 cents to a total of $3.9596 per one hundred dollars of assessed valuation for the purpose of attracting and retaining quality certified and support staff, maintaining facilities, and meeting additional operating expenses. Laquey precinct voters will get to vote on Proposition Fire which would levy an extra tax of not more than 30-cents on one hundred dollars of assessed valuation to provide funds for the support of the Hazelgreen Fire district. St. Robert voters get to decide the fate of Question One that will ask for approval of imposing a sales tax of three percent on all retail sales of adult use marijuana sold in the community. Likewise, voters in Waynesville will be asked to decide the fate of Proposition A, which would impose a city sales tax of three percent on the sales of adult use marijuana sold at retail in that community. That, along with the state and county tax on marijuana sales, would make the total sales tax on marijuana at 12 percent.
