A group of Algoa (al-go-a) Correctional Center inmates in Jefferson City have whipped up a scaled-down version of the Missouri Capitol – made out of gingerbread. Mary Connell (caw-null), a vocational teacher at the prison, says the masterpiece took her class several weeks to build from conception to final decorating. It even has a 3D figure of Ceres – the agriculture goddess – on top of the Capitol dome.

The culinary creation will be on display at the Algoa administrative office until early next year.
